Accessibility statement
For the Gilbert Inglefield Lodge No. 8009 website
This website is run by Gilbert Inglefield Lodge No. 8009. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
We have also made the text as simple as we can. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- the Discover Freemasonry in Bedfordshire booklet is a PDF that is not fully accessible to screen reader software, so we also provide a text version
- the Discover Freemasonry film from the United Grand Lodge of England only has YouTube’s automatic captions, which may contain mistakes
- the map on our Meetings page is provided by Google, and may not work well with assistive technology (the full address is always given in text)

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Gilbert Inglefield Lodge is not a public sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us. We have chosen to follow the same standard that GOV.UK sets for public sector websites.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- The Discover Freemasonry in Bedfordshire booklet (PDF) was produced by the Province of Bedfordshire and is not tagged, so screen readers cannot follow its headings and reading order. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and relationships). We provide the full text as a web page. We will replace the PDF if an accessible version is published.
- The Discover Freemasonry film relies on automatic captions and has no transcript. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.2 (Captions, prerecorded). The film is produced by the United Grand Lodge of England. We will update it if a version with accurate captions becomes available. The same topics are covered in text on our Joining page.
Content that is not within the scope of this statement
Websites we link to, such as Bedfordshire Freemasons (where our news stories are published in full), the United Grand Lodge of England, YouTube and Google Maps, are run by other organisations and are not covered by this statement.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We check the website each time we make significant changes, and we will update this statement when we fix the problems listed above.
