Gilbert Inglefield Lodge No. 8009
Province of Bedfordshire · Under the United Grand Lodge of England

About the Lodge
Gilbert Inglefield Lodge is a Craft lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England, meeting at The Keep, Bedford Road, Kempston. It was consecrated on 5 January 1965 and takes its name from Sir Gilbert Inglefield, then Provincial Grand Master of Bedfordshire.
Craft Freemasonry is made up of three degrees: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason. Each is presented as an allegorical two-part play that teaches moral lessons and self-knowledge.
A Lodge meeting normally has two parts. First comes the business of the Lodge: the minutes of the last meeting, proposing and balloting for new members, the accounts, Masonic news and correspondence, and news of our charitable work. Then comes the ceremony, either admitting a new member or, each February, installing the Master of the Lodge and his officers. Meetings are followed by dinner at the festive board.

A word from a Worshipful Master
Masonry has certainly proved to me to be a challenging science. It takes time, effort and determination to progress through the various degrees.
It also has its rewards: a sense of enormous wellbeing and pride when ritual has been demonstrated to the high standard to which we aspire.
And, of course, the massive good we all help to achieve through the huge range of charities that we all support. It is here, through our support and donations worldwide, that the true goodness of Freemasonry is demonstrated.

The Royal Arch
Craft Freemasonry, with its three degrees, is where every Freemason begins. Once a member has become a Master Mason, he can continue his journey in the Royal Arch, which completes the story begun in the Third Degree. Royal Arch Masons meet in Chapters, and are known as Companions.
Gilbert Inglefield Lodge does not have its own Chapter, but our members are welcome in Royal Arch Chapters across Bedfordshire, and we are happy to put any of our Master Masons in touch with one.
